From the comfort of your own private Manor House in the Cotswolds you will have generous time to explore this breath-taking area of England, along with spending plenty of time relaxing over a novel or a glass of wine.

A great escape providing a more personalised alternative to luxury hotels, where you can truly feel at home while immersing your selves into the quaint country life, so typical of this area.

A small team of staff will be with you for the duration of your stay, getting to know your every preference. As the cocktail hour approaches, your host may hear your footsteps on the landing – and by the time you reach the drawing room, your favourite ‘Tipple’ will be poured – just the way you like it.

Hospitality aside you’ve come here to see pockets of England few get the chance to experience. Arrangements are often made to enjoy a cream tea during the season’s match days at the Polo Club where Princes William and Harry play their favourite game. You will be shown medieval wool towns and villages, little changed since time immemorial. Introduced to a Roman Legacy that started in 55BC when Julius Caesar crossed the channel from France. You’ll discover Saxon history, ancient churches and their market towns. It’s a hugely historic and cultural area.

Superb food and wine is the centre point of this immersive week. A private chef who will not only create the most fabulous menus and meals but welcome you into the kitchen to talk about ingredients and tricks of the trade – and you’re perfectly welcome to roll up your sleeves and get involved with a bit of ‘sous-cheffing’. We’ll then pair chef’s dishes with what we consider to be the most appropriate fine wines from around the world, taken from a private cellar.

The Golden Valley is a wonderful part of Cotswolds, around the village of Chalford, along the banks of the River Frome – it’s designated as an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’. There’s a whole heap of history here dating back to 17th and 18th century Huguenot weavers who found a home here to manufacture silk and woollen cloth. The village is mostly stone built cottages and the manor house where you will be staying has imposing views down the valley.

Al Vecchio Convento is an ‘Albergo Diffuso’, which best can be translated to “Spread out Hotel”, situated in the historical centre of a medieval village, Portico di Romagna, in the Apennine hills between Florence and Ravenna in Tuscan Romagna.

Staying in a ‘spread out’ hotel means living the town from within, having as neighbours the local inhabitants and not just hotel-rooms with tourists. Living with the village also means leaving behind stress and letting yourself being absorbed by the more relaxed rhythm of local life.

The rooms are located in the centre of Portico di Romagna: 9 rooms in the main building, where you also find the restaurant, and 6 in the annex 50 metres from the main building.

The rooms are furnished with the original 18th Century furniture, all with bathroom and the following modern facilities: wi-fi, lcd tv and telephone, electric kettle for tea and coffee.

Activities during day can consist of cooking lessons, trekking, truffle hunting, wine & olive oil tasting, an excursion to ‘Ravenna’ or just sit back and relax and read a book in the peaceful surroundings. For those who wish to learn the Italian language, morning lessons can be arranged via the local language school from beginners to advanced.
